Thank You Cards

Little know fact: I love receiving cards in the mail… and I love sending them.  It’s like a little present in your mailbox.  Someone thought of you and took the time, wrote a note and put a stamp on it.  What a lovely little gesture that says so much – I care, I appreciate you, and thanks.  One year for my birthday a friend of mine (who has yet to fess up to it)  sent out an email to a bunch of my friends reminding them that my birthday was coming up in the next couple weeks and asking them to drop a card in the mail…and this is what happened… I think in total I received over 20 birthday cards that year!! Let’s just saw it was a pretty awesome birthday!

As a service to my own clients I offer photo thank you cards and Christmas cards, baby announcements … just about anything you can dream up!  I know that for couples who have recently gotten married the task of writing thank you cards seems a bit (or maybe a lot) daunting.  So many cards … so many addresses.  I encourage all of you instead to think about how happy the people who receive those cards will be.  The fact that you took the time and wrote them a note is always appreciated.   Here’s a photo of the card that Kaley & Aaron sent out to their guests this past year.

And this morning, I came across a blog entry called ‘5 Tips for Wedding Thank You Cards’ –  a great little read for brides and grooms – Thanks Emmaline Bride!.

So in short I encourage all of you too keep up the ‘art’ of sending handwritten cards… for any occasion! You can guarantee it will be the highlight of someone’s day when they find it in their mailbox!

Bryan & Stefanie are Married – Bellamere Winery, London, Ontario

I had an awesome time wrapping up wedding season with Bryan and Stefanie’s wedding.  They celebrated their ceremony downtown at the St Peters Cathedral and then enjoyed a reception after at Bellamere Winery in London.  I’ve had so many awesome couples to work with this year, and Bryan & Stef were certainly one of them!  It was really a funday.  Thanks to both of you and your wedding party for being so great to work with.  Here are a few of my favourite photos of the day.  You can also watch their slideshow by clicking here... or download it for free in my iTunes store.

Jeff & Leah are Married! – Kitchener, Ontario

I hardly know where to begin with this post…. Jeff & Leah had such an awesome wedding.  They are such great people … and Jeff also happens to be my cousin, which made this day even more fun!   Jeff & Leah started dating some 8-ish years ago when they were both in high school.  The stayed to gather all the way though university and got engaged almost 3 years ago before heading off to Australia to finish their degrees  (you might remember when I took their engagement photos in Sydney)…. so to say that their wedding day was a long time in the making is probably a bit of an understatement… but all the hard work and waiting was so worth the wait.  They had such a great day with their family and friends.  Truly beautiful.  This post is only a handful of my favourites… as always you can check out their slideshow by clicking here or you can download it for free in my iTunes store.

Jeff & Leah opted to do a “first-look” and see each other and do all their portraits before the ceremony…. not exactly traditional, but it was really cool.  They had friends that had flown in from all over the world and so they wanted to make sure that they would be able to see everyone and enjoy their cocktail hour before dinner.  They decided to meet at their photo location, and Jeff waited patiently around the corner while Leah got herself ready…

I love the look on her face when she stepped out to see Jeff.  She couldn’t possibly look any happier.

And Leahs’ favourite shot from their winter engagement session recreated…

And then it was off to church to get married.

They included a really neat “hand-tieing” ceremony to their vows.  It was really nice.

Their sweet little nephew (and ring bearer – Jensen)

And then it was time for a party… what a lot of fun that was…. but that’s for next week :)
Jeff & Leah… thank you so very much for giving me the honour of capturing your wedding.  Truly a great day!  I wish you much love an happiness for many years to come!!

Jim & Ali are Married! – The Little Inn, Bayfield, Ontario

It was a gorgeous day for a wedding and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to capture Jim & Alison’s day.  They fell in love with Bayfield a couple of years ago and knew when they started planning their wedding that they wanted to share it with their family and friends.   Here are just a few images from their day.  You can click here to see their slideshow or download it free in my iTunes store.

I absolutely loved this bracelet… give to Ali the day before her wedding by her future mother-in-law, which was give to her for her wedding by her mother in-law which was give to her for her wedding… 66 years ago to the day of Jim and Alison’s.  Isn’t that amazing.  It’s hand carved coral and I was absolutely terrified to touch it!  So beautiful.

They had a beautiful garden ceremony with readings by both their mom’s.  So personal!

And then we were off on a little road trip to find some photo locations.  I drove by this field of white flowers on my way to Bayfield and absolutely fell in love.  Isn’t it gorgeous!

And then we were back to the Little Inn for their beautiful dinner reception.  Complete with amazing details and flowers as posted below.  It was a wonderful day!

Congrats Jim & Ali!  Wishing you many years of happiness!!
